'Going back to basics'
Lake Street Café celebrates 12 successful years in 2012 in downtown Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.
Lake Street Café serves California bistro-style food, wood-fired pizzas and irresistible entrees complemented by a variety of specialty beers and wines from an extensive list. It also is the recipient of the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence 2003-2011.
You wouldn't know it to look at the place, but behind the family-style pizzeria and bar, with an outstanding selection of local beers and 40 wines by the glass, there's a bit of nouveau sophistication: a cozy dining room, white linen, candles, a stupendous wine list, spectacular martinis â and a menu that includes a melt-in-your-mouth filet or fresh fish, served to order. Combine that with all fresh ingredients, and you've got the makings of a superb meal.
After decades of dormancy, Schlitz beer is back and it's on tap at Lake Street Café. Along with 14 other specialty beers on tap, Schlitz remains one of the most popular tap beers. Whether dining on the casual or formal dining side, the friendly and knowledgeable wait staff make the experience memorable. Owners John and Lynn Shovan created their menu by "going back to basics" using all fresh ingredients. All stocks and sauces are made from scratch and bread is baked daily, along with the desserts.
