A Continuing Tradition
It's the beginning of race season in Elkhart Lake. From now until September, racers, enthusiasts, and families from across the country will flock to Road America to enjoy the many sporting events and activities.
Through the Chamber of Commerce Vacation Rental Program, these visitors have the unique opportunity to stay in one of the many distinct homes, cottages and condos owned by locals, who continue the long-standing Elkhart Lake tradition of opening their homes to these visitors.The Elkhart Lake Chamber of Commerce began this rental program over 60 years ago, when automobiles still raced through the village and around the lake. Noticing that these races brought a robust influx of tourists, the home-owners of Elkhart Lake graciously opened their houses to racers and their families.
Today, with Road America close-by, Elkhart Lake continues to provide that same hospitality not only to racers and fans, but to everyone looking to enjoy all that Elkhart Lake has to offer. Summertime brings families excited for a week-long vacation on the water, while others wish to be in the village or close to the races. The Chamber's Rental Program has everything from early twentieth-century cottages to contemporary condos, all within a short walk to the lovely lakefront.
Privately owned homes, condos, cottages and bedrooms are available to vacationers and race enthusiasts through the Elkhart Lake Chamber of Commerce. Arrangements can be made for stays of varying lengths and accommodations.
