Potty break poses no problems

The rush to the bathroom at halftime of the Super Bowl sent an additional 21,000 gallons of water moving through the system, city water officials said Sunday.

During the 30-minute halftime, 3.9 million gallons of water were delivered to customers, said Water Management spokesman Tom LaPorte. When compared with the same time Saturday, it was 21,000 more gallons of water, he said.

The additional flushing posed no threat to the water system, which pushes nearly a billion gallons of water a day, LaPorte said.
