All together now: Think, 'Bears win!' Just focus, Bear fans

February 4, 2007

Worried that Peyton Manning will dissect the Bears' defense or Rex Grossman might throw a few picks?

Your negative thoughts could actually hurt the Bears. In contrast, thoughts of them winning the big game today could help the team.

So says Mark Kogan, a Chicago actor who appears with coach Lovie Smith in a Comcast commercial, as well as other followers of the so-called Law of Attraction. The law -- the subject of a recent movie and book called "The Secret" -- says thoughts are energy, and two or more people focusing on the same thing can influence an outcome. The belief will be featured on "Oprah" this week, the movie's executive producer says.

To tap the positive energy of Bears fans, Kogan came up with a "Two Minute Drill" for fans to do today. It includes imagining how it would feel to be fans of the winning team as the Bears hoist the Lombardi Trophy. Then repeat phrases like "The Bears have just won the Super Bowl!" and "Every single player on the Bears is a winner." The entire drill is at www.fandrill.com.

Kogan acknowledges many skeptics of the method. But, he points out, it can't hurt, can it?
