Carmel student kicks his way to Super Bowl

February 2, 2007

MUNDELEIN -- A Carmel Catholic High School student got his kicks Wednesday and in the process won two tickets to the Super Bowl to watch the Bears.

Jimmy Miller won a field goal-kicking contest sponsored by 97.9 FM The Loop outside the United Center in Chicago and the Long Grove resident added to his family's ticket numbers.

The Carmel sophomore booted 60 consecutive 19-yard field goals, outdistancing other contestants and winning the two tickets given out by Loop morning man Jonathan Brandmeier.

As season ticketholders who won the Bears ticket lottery, Jimmy's family already had two tickets to the big game, but they needed four.

With Jimmy, who is a kicker on the Carmel football team, kicking into high gear, the dilemma on who would be left behind has been taken care of.
