Rising

Slowing Megatron: Lions wideout Calvin Johnson had four catches, tying his low over the past 13 games, for 44 yards.

Nate Burleson, motivational speaker: The Lions wide receiver, who broke his left arm in a car accident after reaching for a falling pizza box, gave pep talks to the team before the game and at halftime.

50-50 for Forte: Matt Forte had a run of 50-plus yards for the second consecutive week. He had a 55-yard dash in Pittsburgh and a 53-yard touchdown in Detroit.

Falling

The false-start streak: The Bears had not committed a pre-snap penalty all season until Jordan Mills’ false start in the second quarter Sunday.

Marshall’s focus: Wide receiver Brandon Marshall said he needed “to do a better job of staying in the game and communicating better what I’m seeing out there, what looks I’m getting, and try to do a better job of just making plays.”

Guts: Rather than go for it, the Lions kicked field goals on fourth-and-1 from the 5 and fourth-and-2 from the 23. The Bears kicked on fourth-and-3 from the 16 and fourth-and-5 from the 17.
