Chicago got its first look at the Bears’ revamped offense under coach Marc Trestman and what’s in the works for quarterback Jay Cutler at Soldier Field on Saturday night.
It was a typical Trestman practice with an emphasis on speed.
The first set of team drills moved at a quick pace, and Cutler continued making “explosive plays” for Trestman, completing passes to Brandon Marshall (just past the hands of linebacker Lance Briggs) and Joe Anderson for big gains.
“You try to make it game speed, game tempo,” Cutler said last week.
“You are going to have mistakes out there, and you’ve got to rebound the next play and get it right. It makes it fun for us. It’s challenging for quarterbacks to keep it up-tempo like that and see different looks from the defense but as close to a game as we can make it.”
Later in practice, rookie receiver Marquess Wilson and veteran Devin Aromashodu worked with Cutler and the first-team offense.
