Fire coach Frank Klopas named Mike Matkovich and Leo Perco-
vich assistant coaches for the 2012 season, the team announced Friday.
Matkovich and Percovich are
expected to join Klopas this weekend at the Major League Soccer combine in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The MLS SuperDraft will be held Thursday in Kansas City, Mo.
Matkovich, 49, will start his second stint as a Fire assistant this season. He previously was an assistant in 2009 and 2010 and last year was the director of coaching for the Chicago Fire Juniors-South and an assistant for the team’s soccer academy.
Percovich, 43, will be in his second season as a Fire assistant. He is a native of Uruguay and a former goalkeeper for two MLS teams.
Klopas was named interim coach May 30 after Carlos De Los Cobos was fired, then had the ‘‘interim’’ dropped from his title Nov. 3.
