CHESTER, Pa. — Jack McInerney scored his Major League Soccer-leading eighth goal of the season in the third minute, and the Philadelphia Union made it stand up in a 1-0 victory Saturday against the Fire.
McInerney headed home a corner kick by Sebastien Le Toux for the Union (5-4-3), which beat the Fire 1-0 for the second time in eight days. The Union also won 1-0 on May 11 at Toyota Park in Bridgeview.
The Fire (2-7-1), which lost its third consecutive game and remained winless on the road (0-4-1), played short-handed for much of the second half after midfielder Wells Thompson was ejected in the 62nd minute for receiving a second yellow card.
The Fire has scored only six goals all season.
