ZURICH — FIFA says Fox has won bidding to get U.S. television rights for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.
Fox outbid incumbent ESPN and NBC to win the English-language U.S. rights. It also got radio rights.
ESPN, which got the 2010 and 2014 tournament rights, earlier acknowledged defeat in its 2018-2022 bid.
FIFA says Telemundo was awarded Spanish-language rights, beating the incumbent Univision. Telemundo is owned by NBC Universal.
Spanish-language radio rights went to Futbol de Primera Radio.
FIFA did not disclose the value of the deals.
ESPN paid $100 million and Univision paid $325 million for their current two-tournament deals.
Those deals made the U.S. FIFA’s most lucrative national market.
