Would it be accurate to call Felice Herrig an underdog?
Nicknamed ‘‘Lil Bulldog,’’ Herrig is on the undercard of the Chicago Cagefighting Championship’s mixed martial arts card Saturday.
The 26-year-old Chicago native is to face Shimone Brooks at the Odeum Expo Center, 1033 N. Villa Ave., Villa Park. Doors open at 6 p.m.; the fights begin at 7.
Herrig is more of a top dog in Kung Fu Factory’s ‘‘Supremacy MMA’’ video game. She and Michele ‘‘Diablita’’ Gutierrez are to become the first women featured in an MMA video game.
Herrig also is the face (and various body parts) of the ‘‘Equal Fights MMA’’ Facebook page (facebook.com/equalfightsmma).
‘‘Being one of the first women to represent MMA in a video game is a dream come true for me,’’ Herrig said of the game, which will be available in June for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. ‘‘This is our chance to finally show gamers that female fighters can hold their own.’’
