A big blue catfish and two memorable largemouth bass highlight the back-to-school edition of Fish of the Week. Ed Susralski nominated his grandson, Frank Kutnar. The 13-year-old from Tinley Park caught the biggest fish of his life, a 36-inch, 22-pound blue from LaSalle Lake. Susralski, of Orland Park, said they were trolling a deep-diving crankbait. His grandson battled the fish for 25 minutes. When Mike Skwira took his neighbor and his neighbor’s two sons fishing on the Chicago River, Cole Geinosky caught his first bass, and first downtown bass, at Wolf Point below the Sun-Times offices.
