Rachel Cavazos hoisted one of the dozens of bluegill hybrids caught during an innovative fishing session Friday for the Louis L. Valentine Boys & Girls Club at Palmisano Park.
She caught her first fish this summer during such a session. The sessions are funded by the not-for-profit Henry Palmisano Fishing Foundation. She caught three in a row with a spike and small hook on light spinning tackle. ‘‘I am just doing something right,’’ she said. The program is something very right for urban youth fishing.
