Fish of the Week celebrates fish caught around Chicago or by Chicago fishermen.

That means fish caught by local fishermen or from local waters.

Can I stretch to Ireland for this northern pike, which was submitted by Kevin Dyra of Itasca?

‘‘I know you normally post local catches, but I thought I would run these pictures by you,’’ Dyra e-mailed. ‘‘My family has just returned from a trip to Ireland. While there, my son John and I did some northern-pike fishing at Lake Derryhick in County Mayo. John caught the pike of the day at almost 40 inches.’’

Dyra was using slider lures when the fish was caught June 13.

‘‘Pike fishing is alive and well in Ireland!’’ Dyra e-mailed.

Is Ireland enough of a destination for Chicago fishermen to be considered for Fish of the Week? If you have thoughts or a nomination for FOTW, e-mail
