Michael Mlinarcik landed one of the longer northern pike caught around Chicago fishing at about 6:30 p.m. Friday. He hooked the 16-pound pike on a golden-roach minnow on a floating Lindy rig at the Bass and Gill Club outside Plainfield. It was quite the battle on a light rod and reel with 6-pound line. ‘‘It took three
netting attempts to get it to shore, with one net breaking,’’ son Jack Mlinarcik said.
