This week’s field notes
OUTDOORS April 22, 2011 11:30PM
Q: Is there a reason why nobody was there to open the gate at LaSalle Lake on April 17? I arrived at 6:02 a.m. and waited until 6:45 before I gave up. There were at least a dozen cars in line by then. I just thought I would make you aware of the situation.’’ — Mike
A: It comes down to staffing. LaSalle no longer has staff, but seasonal
help is used to open and close. There is a difference between a full-time staffer and seasonal help. That was at least the second such instance since March 30.
