Fish of the week

With his Mickey Mouse rod and yellow PowerBait, Ben Bjork caught an 18-inch rainbow trout March 26 to earn Fish of the Week honors.

The Clarendon Hills boy was fishing at Grove Lake in Wood Dale, where the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County hosted a trout-fishing day for kids 15 and younger, a week before the regular spring trout season opened in Illinois.

‘‘It was a great father/son moment,’’ his father, Eric, said. ‘‘We should all acknowledge the measures taken to help introduce fishing to young kids in the area.’’
