Kevin Phillips’ big buck symbolizes one of the major changes in Illinois deer hunting over the last 10-15 years: the shifting emphasis to bowhunting.
That shift has been seen in more bowhunting entries for Buck of the Week during the 2010-11 season, too.
“Thought I might enter a picture of my first buck,” the north suburban man e-mailed. “This is my third year bowhunting and my first buck.’’
The buck was arrowed at 4:15 p.m. on Oct. 30 on private land in Jo Daviess County from a range of 8 yards.
