Q: Any idea what these birds are? ­ —Jim Lukancic

A: The one on the left is a red-tailed hawk. Several birders agree the other one is likely an albino red-tailed hawk. Considering Lukancic lives by Channahon, I suspect it might be the “[leucistic] phase [almost albino] red-tailed hawk’’ mentioned by Greg and Pat Bluhm in DALE’S MAILBAG on Oct. 24.
