Chicago firefighter Joe Lemke arrowed a 13-point, 200-pound buck in Putnam County on Nov. 13 to earn Buck of the Week honors. It was one of the 58,471 deer bagged by bowhunters in Illinois through Sunday, said Paul Shelton, Illinois’ forest wildlife program manager. ‘‘I regret my camera would not work, so no field shots,’’ Lemke e-mailed. ‘‘I hunted on six acres of private property owned by a fellow firefighter.’’ The bowhunting deer season in Illinois continues through Jan. 16. At this point last year, Illinois bowhunters had reported a few more deer (59,028). Shelton said harvest sex ratios were split 50-50. Pike (3,007) leads all counties in harvest.
