Weather will be issue for IHSA sectionals

Cold water and weather (possibly snow) might make Friday the toughest day for sectionals in the five years of Illinois’ state championship for high school bass fishing.
There are other things to watch. Streamwood will try to keep alive its string of being the only Chicago-area school to qualify for state every year at Chain O’Lakes No. 2 (North). Zion-Benton, whose second-place finish in 2009 is the highest by a Chicago-area school at state, will be at Chain O’Lakes No. 1 (South).
Taft is the only Chicago Public League team at sectionals this year. The Northwest Side school has missed state only once,
despite generally being stuck at the Skokie
Lagoons sectional.
Braidwood Lake, with its warm water, will be the top area sectional again. The first Des Plaines Conservation Area sectional might be challenging because of cold, high water.
