FISH OF THE WEEK
“Well, it is a good thing that my friend Pete Willy keeps his boat available,’’ John Arlow emailed.
On their off day Sunday, they drove from Chesterton, Ind. to fish Braidwood Lake. They caught and released six nice largemouth bass. Willy caught the best — 4.75 pounds — on a white spinner bait. The others came on clown-colored jerkbaits.
“I was really surprised at the quality of fish,’’ Arlow emailed. “They were like footballs: huge bellies, probably eggs.’’
They also caught a pair of 5-pound hybrid striped bass, which were only stocked a couple years ago.
