Marty Vician was among the record 1,300 to shoot a turkey during Illinois’ youth seasons.
The Chicago 14-year-old has a special place in my heart. I first met him as a 7-month-old in 1998, as he watched from his baby carriage at Montrose Harbor when perch season reopened. He has grown into quite the outdoorsman.
His turkey, taken April 8, is an impressive 20-pounder, dad John said.
