City Olympic group opens online store
The group working to bring the 2016 Olympics to Chicago has opened an online store selling official merchandise to support that bid, including T-shirts, coats, vests and hats with the Chicago 2016 logo.
It marks the first time Chicago 2016 apparel featuring the “Chicago Star” logo is available to the public. The logo was unveiled in 2007 and according to the organizing group, was inspired by the ideals and values of the Olympic Movement and the City, according to a release from Chicago 2016.
The logo had to be redesigned after the previous logo incorporated the Olympic torch. It was snuffed by the International Olympic Committee, which ordered the group to redesign it and leave out the torch.
