Readers reject '16 Olympics
In a scientific poll of 800 Chicago area residents taken by Zogby International last April, 76 percent of respondents said they favored Chicago hosting the 2016 Olympic Games.
In an unscientific, online poll Wednesday, 74 percent of about 700 Sun-Times readers said they opposed the Games.
Chicago 2016 chairman Patrick Ryan, speaking about the Zogby poll commissioned by the United States Olympic Committee, said he thinks most objectors are worried about congestion and inconvenience.
A friend told Ryan he opposed the Games because of crowds.
"I felt like saying, 'Get a life.' [Instead] I said, 'Why not take a vacation and rent out your condo?'" said Ryan.
