Chicago Olympic team mum on revenue
Details of L.A.'s losing bid included projections of 7.3 million ticket sales, earning $580 million. Additional forecasts called for $860 million in sponsorships and $650 million in television revenues.
The United States Olympic Committee named the Chicago group the U.S. choice in international competition for the 2016 Games.
If Olympic revenue projections fall short, Chicago taxpayers would be liable for $500 million -- a situation local officials call unlikely -- but Chicago Olympic officials rebuffed reporters pressing for revenue details.
Chicago 2016 chairman Patrick Ryan also declined to name the insurance firm that has reportedly promised to provide a $500 million cushion against red ink.
"We are not going to give out our game plan to the competition," Ryan said.
Tuesday's remarks came after a daylong meeting in Chicago with members of the USOC.
