1. Is Sunday’s game against the Packers a “contract game” for Jay Cutler?

I don’t think that’s the case at all, but I do think this is an important game for the Bears. This is a statement game for them. Their last game, they played horrible, and they’re last in the league in defense. Win this game and get into the dance — that’s all they have to do. Whether it’s Jay Cutler or Josh McCown at quarterback, it doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter if the Bears score 28 points and the other team scores 50. That’s their problem. It’s not a statement game for Jay at all. It’s a statement game for the Bears. Period!

2. What is your New Year’s resolution?

It’s always the same with me: Try to be a better person next year than you are this year. Try to be more considerate, more understanding, more caring, more sharing. That might be idealistic, but that’s what I believe. When you have opportunities in life, you can’t squander them because you might not ever get them again. I’ve had a lot of opportunity. I just hope I can take advantage of that and give back.

3. How much does Aaron Rodgers — even if he’s not 100 percent — help the Packers?

Well, I don’t think they’d be playing him if it affected him. I really don’t. I think he’s OK. If he gets hit on that thing like he did the last time, I’m sure it’ll break. But I think they’re doing the right thing by playing him. If he’s not the best quarterback in the league, he’s in the top four. All you have to understand is, when you have a guy like that, you have to play him. How important is Peyton Manning to the Broncos? How important is Drew Brees to the Saints? He’s in that category. I don’t think the team around him is as good as some of the other teams, but he’s a heck of a player.

4. Did the Bears do the right thing in making Robbie Gould the league’s highest- paid kicker?

Kickers are hard to come by, and when you get a good one, you might as well keep him. Robbie Gould happens to be a good one. He’s a good kid, a good Bear. I don’t see any problem with paying him what they did to keep him.
