Holding the football above his head, linebacker Lance Briggs galloped down the sideline and into the end zone. He had picked off quarterback Jay Cutler during another good day for the defense in team drills Monday.
Defensive end Corey Wootton almost had another interception after nickel back Isaiah Frey made a nice play on the ball.
But coach Marc Trestman said after practice that he hasn’t gotten the sense Cutler is overly frustrated with how some things have gone during camp, whether it’s his ever-changing offensive line and its struggles or what the defense is doing.
‘‘This was a tough day,’’ Trestman said when asked about Cutler. ‘‘He’s experienced a lot of failure in this camp because of what he’s seeing every day and all the different things we’re throwing at him, but he’s had a lot of success, too. He’s had a very efficient camp for most of it.’’
Trestman said adjustments will be made soon enough.
‘‘[Cutler is] doing everything he can to get better,’’ Trestman said. ‘‘As we move forward, we’ll be running the plays that best suit the fronts and the coverages that we’re going to see.’’
