Nazr Mohammed was in an apologetic mood Saturday, a day after the Bulls veteran center was ejected from Game 3 against the Miami Heat for shoving LeBron James to the floor.
He made his feelings known on Twitter.
“Sorry for my overreaction & being ejected. I blacked out & just reacted after I was pushed down. I’m happy it only resulted w/ a push,’’ he tweeted.
He posted two more tweets: “For the kids who were watching... That not the way to react on the basketball court.’’
“Hopefully if I’m in the same situation again I will control my emotions but u never know what ur instincts will do. #SeeRed’’
With 9:29 left in the first half Friday — and the Bulls holding a three-point lead — James was headed down the court with ball in hand when Mohammed swooped in and wrapped him up. James appeared to lock arms with Mohammed as he shoved him away and was hit with a technical foul. Before official Joey Crawford could finish gesturing the “T,” Mohammed shoved James to the floor.
Afterward, Mohammed didn’t think the ejection was warranted.
“I look at some of the plays that happened in this series already,’’ Mohammed said. “Guys jumping on Nate [Robinson’s] face, guys tackle Marco Belinelli out of bounds, guy takes out Nate first play of the game. I mean, there’s been a lot of plays that didn’t get ejections, and a push shouldn’t get an ejection.’’
Mohammed was asked if it was whom he pushed rather than the push itself. He walked a fine line in his reply.
“I’m not going to get into that,’’ Mohammed said. “Who knows? That’s for you guys to write about, and it’s not for me. I’m on my way out of this league, and it’s [James’] league, so you guys make the decision.’’
