The Ultimate Fighting Championship will return to Chicago on Jan. 28 for its second “UFC on FOX” event.
Fans are invited to a news conference Wednesday at the United Center featuring UFC president Dana White and the fighters in the main and co-main events. Doors open at noon and the event starts at 1 p.m.
In the main event, former UFC light-heavyweight champion and Park Forest resident Rashad Evans will seek another title shot when he faces undefeated Phil Davis at the United Center. The co-main event will be a bout between Chael Sonnen and Mark Muñoz, with the winner becoming the No. 1 contender for the middleweight title held by Anderson Silva.
“UFC on FOX 2” tickets, which range in price from $40 to $250, will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at the United Center box office or through Ticketmaster (ticketmaster.com or 800-745-3000).
The event will be the second in the UFC’s contract with Fox Sports. It will be a two-hour broadcast on Fox-32 that will begin at 7 p.m.
The event marks the first time the UFC has returned to the Chicago area since UFC 90 on Oct. 25, 2008, at Allstate Arena.
