Wolves eliminated from playoff contention with loss to Admirals

The Wolves were eliminated from playoff contention with a 2-0 loss Saturday to the Milwaukee Admirals at Allstate Arena.

Mark Van Guilder scored 17 minutes into the first period to give the Admirals a 1-0 lead, and that’s the way the score remained until Kevin Henderson added an empty-net goal with nine seconds left in regulation.

Magnus Hellberg stopped all 27 shots he faced from the Wolves (37-29-5-4), who went 0-for-4 on the power play and failed to muster much consistent pressure.

The Wolves end their season with a game at 4 p.m. Sunday against the Grand Rapids Griffins at Allstate Arena.
