ROCKFORD — Mark Mancari scored twice and recorded his 400th point in the American Hockey League, helping the Wolves beat the Rockford IceHogs 6-2 on Saturday night.
The IceHogs (21-24-1-4) opened the scoring on the power play on Rostislav Olsez’s slap shot from the top of the slot at 6:05 of the first period.
The Wolves (27-18-1-3) tied the score when Tim Miller’s slap shot hit an opponent’s stick and Michael Davies tapped it home at 14:32.
Mancari scored his first of the night at 16:04 when he sent the puck past Carter Hutton after receiving a backhand pass from Steve Reinprecht.
Rockford tied it up when Shawn Lalonde’s slap shot hit goalie Matt Climie’s right shoulder and slid into the net at 1:02 of the second.
Nathan Longpre gave the Wolves the lead at 5:49 when he received a pass from Davies and drilled a shot top shelf. The Wolves added to their lead 10 seconds later when Stefan Schnieder picked up a loose puck in the crease and tapped it home. The goal sent Hutton to the bench and brought in Alexander Salak.
