Dave Bolland had two goals, and rookie Jimmy Hayes and Viktor Stalberg scored 23 seconds apart in a three-goal second period as the Blackhawks beat the Minnesota Wild 5-2 on Thursday at the United Center.
Bolland scored on the power play in the second and added an empty-net goal with 1:26 to play. Another Blackhawks rookie, Andrew Shaw, also had a goal.
Devin Setoguchi had the game’s first goal for Minnesota, and Kyle Brodziak added a rebound tally in the third period for the Wild.
Hayes scored the tiebreaker on the power play as he stood in front of the crease and took a nifty pass from Bolland, who was behind the net. That made it 2-1, and just 23 seconds later, Stalberg received a pass from Jonathan Toews, and his shot in the slot apparently deflected off goalie Josh Harding’s glove and into the net.
