Daniel Carcillo isn’t eligible to return from his two-game suspension until Thursday.
Until then, he’ll have some time to contemplate what, if any, changes he needs to make to his game to avoid the type of discipline the NHL handed down for his hit Joni Pitkanen.
“The biggest thing is you have to think now before you hit,” Carcillo said. “[But] once you start thinking, you’re not playing the game the right way. You have to react in this game just because everything is so quick. It’s a tough thing to do, but if you want to keep playing, you have to adapt.”
Coach Joel Quenneville said he didn’t want Carcillo to change how he plays but admitted he has to be careful.
“His leash for what he can and cannot do is very short,” Quenneville said.
