Teuvo time running out; Kane, Toews injury updates

Updated: April 6, 2014 4:23PM

It’s becoming increasingly clear that Teuvo Teravainen isn’t in the Hawks’ plans for the postseason.

Teravainen was a healthy scratch for the third consecutive game. Quenneville said the timing and the Hawks’ position in the standings — chasing the Colorado Avalanche for home-ice advantage in the first round — have played a role in the decision.

‘‘It’s a big league and a hard league,’’ he said. ‘‘And we want to make sure we’re helping ourselves get points. At the same time, he’s learning, as well.’’

Quenneville said no decision has been made on Teravainen’s immediate future.

Injury update

Patrick Kane skated each of the last three days and ‘‘did very well,’’ Quenneville said. Jonathan Toews is being kept off the ice until late in the week.

‘‘No hurry,’’ Quenneville said. ‘‘We want to give him a break.’’
