The Blackhawks added a defenseman Tuesday, signing veteran Michal Rozsival to a one-year deal worth a reported
$2 million.
Rozsival, 34, had 13 points (one goal) and a plus-8 rating in 54 games with the Phoenix Coyotes last season. He was effective in the postseason, helping the Coyotes eliminate the Hawks in the first round and recording 31 hits and 28 blocked shots in 15 games.
Rozsival figures to be ahead of Sheldon Brookbank, another free-agent addition, on the depth chart. He’s also insurance if Steve Montador needs more time to recover from a concussion.
