A minor flap for Webb Simpson at U.S. Open

After winning his first major, U.S. Open champ Webb Simpson told Bob Costas, ‘‘Luckily, the birdies came.’’
The quote came just after a different ‘‘bird’’ videobombed Simpson’s moment. A British man who goes by the name Jungle Bird stepped in between Simpson and the camera, making bird calls before being hauled off by police. Jungle Bird’s Facebook page says he’s a ‘‘fictional character’’ and ‘‘activist dedicated to raising awareness of deforestation.’’
Simpson probably said it best: ‘‘Enjoy the jail cell, pal.’’
