Only 1 team in a 'Rush' to sign T.O.

No NFL scouts attended free-agent receiver Terrell Owens’ workout Tuesday in Calabasas,
Calif., but that doesn’t mean one coach wasn’t watching the televised event hoping to add the 37-year-old to his receiving corps.
No NFL teams have offered
Owens — who had surgery on his left knee in early April to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament — a contract, but the Arena Football League’s Rush has. The team faxed a contract offer Wednesday to
Owens’ agent, Drew Rosenhaus.
‘‘Watching him work out [Tuesday], you can still see he has the passion to play,’’ McMillen told the Sun-Times. ‘‘He wouldn’t do this if he didn’t care about playing.
‘‘Our season is three or four months away. His knee will be in better shape. It gives him the
opportunity to show teams he can still play the game.’’
The Rush opens its 2012 season
March 12 at home against the
Tampa Bay Storm.
In 14 games with the Cincinnati Bengals last season, Owens caught 72 passes for 983 yards and nine touchdowns.
Rosenhaus dismissed the idea of his client playing for the Rush in an ESPN.com article Wednesday.
‘‘That is absurd,’’ Rosenhaus said. ‘‘Terrell will, of course, only be playing in the NFL.’’
