Interview with Chicago Slaughter coach Steve McMichael

June 19, 2009

If fans of the Chicago Rush are wondering what's happened to the team's players after the Arena League canceled its season due to economic woes, they need look no further than the Sears Center in Hoffman Estates.

A handful of former Rush are currently playing championship-caliber football with the undefeated Chicago Slaughter of the Continental Indoor Football League.

The team is hoping for its first CIFL championship, but first they'll need to beat the Wisconsin Wolfpack this Saturday in the Western Division championship.

The Slaughter has already beat Wisconsin three times this season. But rather than allowing his team to get cocky, head coach and former '85 Bear Steve "Mongo" McMichael is using his NFL experience to teach his young players that winning when your team's on top isn't always as easy as it should be.

We caught up with McMichael this morning and spoke with him about his team's chances and the family friendliest game in town.
