Bears special- teams coach Dave Toub said Brad Maynard still had something left, and it looks like he was right. Maynard, signed by the Browns after Richmond McGee suffered a herniated disc in Week 1, was in midseason form in a 27-19 road win Sunday over the Colts.
Maynard, 37, who spent the previous 10 seasons with the Bears, averaged 40.2 net yards on five punts, with three inside the 20 and no return yards. His punts were downed at the Colts’ 25, 13, 17, 31 and 13 — a big reason Indianapolis had an average drive start of its own 22.
