ESPN announcer makes sexist comment—report

Ron Franklin has been an announcer with ESPN since 1987. Jeannine Edwards has worked with ESPN since 1995.
The world’s largest frat house, ESPN, had another embarrassing incident last week.
During preparation for the broadcast of the Chick-fil-A Bowl on Friday, veteran announcer Ron Franklin reportedly made a derogatory comment to sideline reporter Jeannine Edwards that resulted in Franklin being pulled off coverage of the Fiesta Bowl on Saturday.
Franklin and Edwards were preparing for the game with fellow announcers Ed Cunningham and Rod Gilmore, according to a report by SportsbyBrooks.com. Gilmore’s wife, Marie, was recently elected mayor of Alameda, Calif. When Edwards mentioned her election, Franklin reportedly said to Edwards: “Why don’t you leave this to the boys, sweetcakes.”
When Edwards balked at being called, “sweetcakes,” Franklin reportedly responded: “OK, then, a--hole.”
Franklin worked the Friday bowl game but was replaced on Saturday by Dave Lamont.
Franklin has been with ESPN since 1987.
