Fox News host Tucker Carlson said Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick “should have been executed” for his dogfighting crimes.
Carlson, who was filling in for Sean Hannity, made the remarks on Tuesday in response to the positive comments President Barack Obama made to Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie for giving Vick a second chance.
“I’m a Christian,” Carlson said, “I’ve made mistakes myself, I believe fervently in second chances, but Michael Vick killed dogs, and he did in a heartless and cruel way. And, I think personally he should have been executed for that. He wasn’t.”
Golfer Ben Crenshaw was one of the guests on the Fox program. Crenshaw agreed that the crimes were horrific, but said he was glad to see Vick back on the field.
Vick has made quite a turnaround both on and off the field this season. The Pro Bowl quarterback is having one his finest seasons, and he has made several speeches around the coountry on behalf of anti-cruelty to animals.
