Bears are financial failure-Forbes
No NFL team has done less with more than the Chicago Bears, according to a financial report on pro football teams by Forbes.
In a story titled "Money Midgets of the Midway," Forbes calls the Bears "financial flatliners" for ranking ninth ($1.07 billion) in their annual list of NFL team values, the lowest of any big-market team.
The story points to the McCaskeys as the problem: "The problem begins and ends with the ownership. The team is
controlled by 87-year-old Virginia McCaskey, the daughter of
[George] Halas. The face of the franchise is her son, Michael, who never
aspired to be the head of an NFL team."
The good news: Forbes says the Bears present the best opportunity in football with their potential value.
