MOBILE, Ala. — The Bears added almost 70 years of college and professional coaching experience Wednesday, agreeing to add Reggie Herring and Paul Pasqualoni, a league source confirmed.

Herring, 54, will coach linebackers after serving the same role he did the past three years with the Texans and the three before with the Cowboys.

Pasqualoni, 64, will coach the defensive line. He was fired as Connecticut’s head coach in September.

The former Syracuse head coach last coached defensive line in 2010, alongside Herring, in Dallas’ 3-4 defense.

The scheme that intrigues the Bears, be it on a regular basis or as part of a hybrid attack. Defensive coordinator Mel Tucker has 3-4 experience.

The team is coming off franchise lows in yards and rushing yards allowed.

Pasqualoni interviewed with the Bears last week and watched Senior Bowl practice with the staff Tuesday.

The two replace defensive line coach Mike Phair and linebackers coach Tim Tibesar, who were fired Jan. 12.
