Lovie Smith famously asked us to trust him when he fired Ron Rivera after the 2006 season. Maybe it's time he started trusting us.
Smith is always subtly annoyed when the Bears win a game inspite of themselves and while he's basking in the glow of victory, we're wallowing in the ominous despair of an inadequate run game or poor pass protection. Or at least acknowledging it.
Well, Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Seattle Seahawks is why we're like that, Lovie. As much as the fortunes of an NFL team can change from week to week, each game is not a singular event. How rude it was of us to put so much credence in the preseason after Cutler was sacked 10 times in 52 drop-backs in games that didn't count. Cutler's been sacked 23 times in 162 drop-backs in the regular season. Are the Bears still not scheming for opponents- Or is it possible our fears were well-founded-
I doubt Lovie Smith would really consider those questions very seriously. After all, his team is still on a pace to finish 10-6 or better this season. Does anything else matter-
