The Bears have added their linebacker.
With the No. 50 pick, the Bears selected Florida linebacker Jon Bostic during Day 2 of the draft on Friday.
The Bears moved quickly to replace linebackers Brian Urlacher and Nick Roach by signing veterans D.J. Williams and James Anderson. But linebacker always was one of their top needs for this draft. They needed to add youth to their mix.
Bostic (6-1, 245 pounds) started 32 of 51 games at middle linebacker for Florida. He finished his Gators career with 237 tackles, eight sacks and 19.5 tackles for loss.
There was a run on linebackers before the Bears’ pick came up in the second round, including the selections of Kiko Alonso (Oregon) and Kevin Minter (LSU).
