On the eve of the NFL Draft, the Bears held a private workout with North Carolina State quarterback Mike Glennon in Raleigh, according to league sources.
The 2013 class of quarterbacks has come under fire, with some draft analysts projecting that none may be taken in the first round. But a league source said the Bears are looking “hard” at all the quarterbacks in this draft.
Glennon is one of the most highly regarded, widely expected to be taken by the second round. Other top quarterback prospects include Geno Smith of West Virginia, Matt Barkley of USC, E.J. Manuel of Florida State, Ryan Nassib of Syracuse, Tyler Wilson of Arkansas and Tyler Bray of Tennessee.
Glennon is 6 foot 7, 225 pounds, and he started two seasons and showcased a big arm and plenty of playmaking ability. In his first season as the Wolfpack starter, Glennon led them to an 8-5 record and a bowl appearance.
Glennon also had to step in after Russell Wilson transferred to Wisconsin.
A native of Centreville, VA, Glennon was one of the top high school quarterback prospects in the nation, garnering the Gatorade and Associated Press Player of the Year awards in his home state.
His older brother, Sean, played quarterback under Frank Beamer at Virginia Tech.
