Bears running back Matt Forte went through Wednesday’s practice, and said afterward that he thought he would be ready to take that “Monday Night Football’’ stage in Dallas.
Forte injured his right ankle in Green Bay in Week 2, missed the game against St. Louis, and entered this week hopeful to make some progress.
While he didn’t go all out on Wednesday, he did get a good feel of where he was with the injury.
Head coach Lovie Smith, however, didn’t seem ready to write down Forte’s name in the starting lineup just yet.
“My glass is always half-full,’’ Smith said. “We have said that he’s making progress every day, but it’s no more than that. I would hold off on … he’s got a long ways to go still. He is making progress, and hopefully we can get him out there.’’
Julius Peppers was the one significant starter that didn’t go through drills on Wednesday.
