Would Brian Urlacher ever play for another team besides the Bears?
As odd as it sounds, the Bears middle lienbacker whose contract is up after this season told “The Waddle & Silvy Show” on Friday that free agency would be “kind of exciting.”
“I’ve never been a free agent,” Urlacher said on ESPN 1000. “So, if I can get to free agency we’ll see what happens. I no doubt want to finish my career here. There’s no doubt about that. But you bring in free agency and all that you just never know what’s gonna happen.”
Urlacher, who turned 34 on Friday, is in the last year of a five-year contract, which will pay him a base of $7.5 million this season, his 13th with the Bears.
Urlacher told the Sun-Times in April: ‘‘There’s no doubt in my mind I’ll finish my career with the Bears. However that works out, it works out. I can’t imagine playing anywhere else.’’
