Tim Tebow breaks Twitter record

In addition to breaking a few records on the field, Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow was helping set social media records off the field.

Twitter announced that in the moments after Tebow connected with Demaryius Thomas on an 80-yard touchdown pass on the first play of overtime to stun the Steelers on Sunday, Tebow-related tweets were being sent at a rate of 9,420 per second. That breaks the old sports record of 7,196 tweets per second for Japan’s upset of the U.S. in the women’s soccer World Cup in July.
